Transferring data from LG Lotus to laptop

Hi guys,

For a little over two years, I've been using an LG Lotus that was sold to me second-hand by a friend. It was originally a Sprint phone, but I had it flashed over to Cricket. I'm not even sure if there's a memory card in it. About a month ago, the phone began to break apart and is now in such bad shape that it will break completely in half if it's moved so much as an inch. I'm planning on replacing it, but I'd like to get my data off of it first. I have a lot of contact info, as well as some pictures and videos that I would really rather not lose. I connected my laptop (which is running Windows 7 and JAWS 13) to the phone, but neither the computer nor the phone gave any verbal indication that the connection was made. Am I going to have to have sighted help with this? Furthermore, is there a way to determine whether the phone contains a memory card without moving it and risking it breaking completely?

Thanks,
Becky

I'll look at the specs or the phone, but here are a few tips to get you started.
First, if the phone has a card, it be underneath the battery, or in a slot on the side, so if the phone is boing to break as you say, it might cause it to do so looking to see.
Next, when the phone is connected, open Windows Media Player and see if it is in there asking to make a partnership. You'll understand when you see it.
Third, when the phone is connected, go to computer, and under removable drives, see if you can find it in there. If so you can maybe move the data from the phone to the computer.
Last, you said it was a Cricket phone, or is now. Cricket has a backup service. Activate it in your account, and have someone install it on the phone if need be. You'll learn when trying if the phone is compatible.
That is all I have for now.

This phone is much like the En V 2, so will sync with Windows media player.
It has a card slot on the right side under a rubber flap. To see it it has a card in, you open the flap and you feel it. Press in and let go, it pops out.
I'd leave it.
Tab when you have it connected to media player and you'll find it, or under computer.
Lots of steps, but if you've ever synced an MP3 player, this is exactly the same.
